Conservation of local Red cattle breeds by collaboration with a mainstream Red dairy cattle breed

چکیده
Numerous Red cattle breeds exist all throughout Europe. Some are only used locally in certain regions and smaller population size, whereas other multiple countries mainstream production environments. Conservation of local is necessary to maintain genetic diversity. Collaboration between can increase the potential breed thereby success survival. The aim this paper was explore possibilities by collaboration with a breed, while at same time conserve breeds. Three were included study; dairy from Denmark, Finland Sweden (RDC) two breeds, German White dual-purpose (RDN), Lithuanian (LIR). Each simulation RDC breeding program one program. Simulated 30 years, which first 20 years build up reference populations last 10 run genomic selection scheme varying levels different scenarios. maximum percentage bulls selected for cows that could originate differed scenarios, be either 0, 20, 50 or 100%. Results show rate gain reached scenarios where 100% highest inbreeding found scenario no programs. However, even very restricted selection, proportion dropped significantly after ten selection. To really such as RDN LIR, strategy needed.

Across breed multi-trait random regression genomic predictions in the Nordic Red dairy cattle.
The current study evaluates reliability of genomic predictions in selection candidates using multi-trait random regression model, which accounts for interactions between marker effects and breed of origin in the Nordic Red dairy cattle (RDC). The population structure of the RDC is admixed. Data consisted of individual animal breed proportions calculated from the full pedigree, deregressed proof...
متن کاملInbreeding in Danish dairy cattle breeds.
The purpose of this study was to monitor current and predict future rates of inbreeding in the Danish dairy breeds. Calves born from 1999 until 2003 and registered as Danish Holstein (1,883,983), Danish Jersey (336,966), or Danish Red (261,047) were reference populations. Average complete generation equivalent was approximately 7. For calves born in 2003, average inbreeding was 3.9, 3.4, and 1....
متن کاملKappa-casein Genotypic Frequencies in Russian Breeds Black and Red Pied Cattle
Casein is a family of milk proteins that exists in several molecular forms and is the main protein present inthe bovine milk. The B variant of bovine k-casein is reported to be favorable for quality and quantity of cheese derived from milk and considered to be included in breeding strategies of dairy cattle. Genotypes of72 Russian Black Pied and 80 Red Pied cows were determined for ...
متن کاملThe origin of Indonesian cattle and conservation genetics of the Bali cattle breed.
Both Bos indicus (zebu) and Bos javanicus (banteng) contribute to the Indonesian indigenous livestock, which is supposedly of a mixed species origin, not by direct breeding but by secondary cross-breeding. Here, the analysis of mitochondrial, Y-chromosomal and microsatellite DNA showed banteng introgression of 10-16% in Indonesian zebu breeds with East-Javanese Madura and Galekan cattle having ...
